Flowers and Water Plants

Water Hyacinth

Water Hyacinth

Water Hyacinth are floating water plants with beautiful lavender-colored flowers. These floating aquatic plants are among the most effective natural filtration plants, so these pond floaters help control algae by taking nutrients out of the pond water that would otherwise feed the algae.

Water hyacinth prefer water temperatures of 65 degrees and higher, so they are considered tropical aquatic plants. They are very fast growing plants that can benefit from additional fertilizer.

Water Lotus

Water Lotus

Hardy Water Lotus

The hardy water lotus is the most admired of all pond plants, with its elegant, graceful flowers, vibrant colors, and huge leaves. It's no wonder they are a customer favorite. The water lotus is elementary to grow, but need to be fertilized as they are big feeders. They can also be invasive; therefore, they need to be potted. Our entire stock of water lotus is planted in tubs.
The water lotus is a perennial pond plant growing from a rhizome tuber. Its rounded leaves can reach large sizes up to 22" inches in diameter. The first leaves that appear are flat and float on the surface of the pond. They are followed by thicker, tube-shaped leaves with wavy edges that may stand anywhere from 2' to 5' feet above the water. The lotus leaves are coated with a waxy film, upon which water forms glittering droplets. The thick flower stalk grows above the leaves ending in large healthy smelling white, pink, or red blooms, appearing one at a time. Each flower lasts from 3 to 6 days and gets darker with age. Flowers range in size from 4" to 10" inches. Every pond should have at least one water lotus. Plant anywhere by digging in a 55gal barrel and leave your plant there all winter without fear of freezing.

High Density Professional Mix

Sandy loam soil is added to this pre-moistened horticultural sphagnum peat and perlite mixture to provide an air/water balance that assists in maintaining crop consistency and plant viability.
Composition:
· Pre-moistened sphagnum peat moss
· Coarse perlite
· Sandy loam soil
· Dolomitic limestone
· Balanced blend of major and minor elements
· Wetting agent
Features And Benefits:
· For anchorage and stability where a heavier base is needed
· Foliage crops
· Bedding crops
· Terrariums and interior plantscapes
· Long-term crops
· Outdoor growing
· Nutrient Buffering is high in this blend. Nutrients are less likely to leach out of the bottom of the pot with the high nutrient exchange capabilities of this mixture. Weekly liquid feeding is desirable in this blend, but avoid the build-up of soluble salts due to leaching.
· Pre-Moistened Sphagnum Peat provides easy watering and transplanting. Blending with the sandy loam increases the wettability of the mix.
· Air Porosity and Drainage are balanced in this mix. The built-in air porosity allows thorough watering without the problem of a perched water table and waterlogged roots. This formulation is designed for use with most crops. If you're familiar with the soil/peat mixtures, this is the mix for you.
· Water Holding is optimal in this blend. This mixture is neither too wet nor too dry after a thorough watering. Wetting agents help to provide ease in watering. Sub-irrigation works well with this medium.
· Heavier Weight is an advantage in stabilizing top-heavy plants. This medium provides long-term stability for pots and containers, as well as in bedding plant flats.
· Low Cost. Due to the location of our facilities and the ability to produce and obtain aggregates and additives in volume, we can supply the high quality planting blend at this low cost. Quality will not be sacrificed. Be sure to compare the cost per container and couple that with the degree of performance.
